Qunol Turmeric Review 2026: FDA Recall Update & Current Alternatives
⚠️ FDA RECALL NOTICE (Updated August 2026)
Qunol Extra Strength Turmeric 1,000mg capsules are currently under FDA Class II recall.
On December 16, 2025, Quten Research Institute recalled 42,740 bottles across 30 states due to mold contamination detected in raw materials. The FDA classified this as Class II on January 23, 2026, indicating a remote possibility of serious illness.
What this means for consumers:
- If you have Qunol Extra Strength Turmeric 1,000mg capsules (60-count or 120-count bottles), check the lot code against the FDA recall notice
- Do not consume recalled products
- Return to retailer or contact Quten Research Institute for refund
This recall affects ONLY the 1,000mg capsules. Other Qunol products (including the Liquid Turmeric and Gummies reviewed below) are not part of this recall. However, we believe consumers should be aware of quality control issues affecting any product line and have updated our recommendations accordingly.
We are leaving our historical review intact for transparency, but we currently do not recommend purchasing Qunol products until this recall is fully resolved and independent third-party testing confirms product safety.

I’ve personally tested Qunol alongside 50+ other turmeric formulations. Their water-dispersible technology was genuinely interesting — here’s the straight story. See my testing protocol and about page. The turmeric supplement market is more crowded than ever. Walk down any health aisle, and you’re bombarded with dozens of bottles, all making big promises. It’s confusing, and for us midlifers who are tired of wasting money on supplements that don’t seem to do anything for our aches and pains, it can be incredibly frustrating. We need something that genuinely works, so let me offer some clarity in the Qunol Turmeric Review
We’re cutting through the noise to focus on a brand that has become a giant in this space for one key reason: technology. I’ve analyzed countless turmeric supplements over the years, and Qunol consistently comes up in conversations about potency and, most importantly, absorption. Their entire brand is built on solving the single biggest problem with turmeric: getting the good stuff (curcuminoids) out of the plant and into your cells where it can actually do its job. In this definitive Qunol Turmeric review, we’ll break down the science, look at each of their main products, and help you choose the exact one that’s right for you.

Qunol’s Secret Weapon: The Technology That Beats Black Pepper
Before we even look at the bottles, you need to understand the science that sets Qunol apart. The active compounds in turmeric, known as curcuminoids, are notoriously difficult for the body to absorb. They are lipophilic (fat-soluble), but our bodies are mostly water. It’s a classic oil-and-water problem. When you take a standard turmeric supplement, a huge portion of it is destroyed by your liver in a process called “first-pass metabolism” before it ever reaches your bloodstream. This is why many people try generic turmeric and feel absolutely nothing.
For years, the standard solution was to add black pepper extract (piperine). Piperine inhibits some liver enzymes, allowing more curcumin to survive. It’s a decent, but now outdated, solution. Qunol tackles the root of the problem with what they call Water Dispersion Technology. Think of it like this: they wrap the tiny curcumin molecules in a special carrier that makes them water-soluble. This allows the curcumin to bypass that destructive first-pass metabolism and be absorbed directly into the bloodstream. The result is a level of bioavailability that standard formulas simply cannot match. This isn’t just marketing fluff; it’s the core reason for their effectiveness and a crucial factor when comparing turmeric vs. curcumin supplements.
The Qunol Product Lineup: A Detailed Breakdown
Now, let’s look at the specific tools in their arsenal. Choosing the right form of Qunol can make all the difference in your experience and results. Here’s a detailed look at their three most popular options.
1. Qunol Liquid Turmeric 1000mg

This is their flagship for a reason. Delivering a potent 1000mg dose of curcumin with 95% curcuminoids in a single, pleasant-tasting tablespoon, this is the top choice for anyone prioritizing the absolute fastest and most efficient absorption. The liquid form means your body doesn’t have to break down a capsule, allowing the water-dispersible curcumin to get to work almost immediately.
Who it’s PERFECT for: The person with significant morning stiffness or post-exercise soreness who wants the quickest possible relief. It’s also ideal for anyone who dislikes or has trouble swallowing pills.
2. Qunol Extra Strength Turmeric Capsules 1000mg

⚠️ RECALLED PRODUCT: These capsules are currently under FDA Class II recall (December 2025/January 2026) for mold contamination in raw materials. Do not purchase or consume until recall is resolved. See notice at top of page for details.
For those who value convenience, these capsules are a powerhouse. They contain 1000mg of the same bio-enhanced turmeric complex in an easy-to-swallow softgel. While the absorption might be marginally slower than the liquid (as the softgel needs to dissolve), the end result is the same: a potent dose of highly bioavailable curcumin.
Who it’s PERFECT for: The person who wants a high-potency, no-fuss daily supplement for long-term maintenance. It’s incredibly convenient for travel or for keeping in your pill organizer. Note: The softgels contain bovine gelatin, making them unsuitable for vegans.
3. Qunol Turmeric Curcumin Gummies

A fantastic option for those who want their supplement to feel like a treat. These tasty orange-flavored gummies still pack a scientifically backed dose of curcumin (500mg per serving), making it easy and enjoyable to get your daily support. They use the same absorption technology, ensuring you’re not sacrificing much potency for the convenience and great taste.
Who it’s PERFECT for: People who hate pills and liquids, and those looking for a pleasant way to get their daily antioxidant boost to support their immune system and overall wellness.
The Verdict: Is Qunol Turmeric Worth Your Money?
After a thorough review, my historical assessment is clear: Qunol’s water-dispersible technology was genuinely innovative and represented a significant step up from standard turmeric powder. Their focus on solving the bioavailability problem made them stand out in a saturated market.
However, given the current FDA recall for mold contamination in their 1,000mg capsules, we cannot recommend purchasing Qunol products until the recall is fully resolved and independent third-party testing confirms product safety. The quality control failure that allowed mold-contaminated raw materials into production raises serious questions about manufacturing oversight.
Historical Assessment (Pre-Recall):
For most people starting out, especially if you’re dealing with significant discomfort, the Qunol Liquid Turmeric was our previous recommendation. The absorption was unparalleled, and it was incredibly easy to take. However, we currently recommend the alternatives listed below until Qunol resolves their recall and demonstrates improved quality control.

Your Final Questions Before Buying
Which Qunol product is best for significant joint pain?
Currently, we do not recommend any Qunol products due to the ongoing FDA recall for mold contamination. For joint pain, we recommend Meriva® phytosome (Nootropics Depot or Doctor’s Best) or C3 Complex® + BioPerine® (Nature’s Lab Gold) — see alternatives section below.
Is Qunol really better than standard turmeric with black pepper?
Qunol’s Water Dispersion Technology was a genuine advance over basic piperine formulations. However, modern formulations like Meriva® phytosome (29x absorption) and Longvida® (65x absorption, crosses blood-brain barrier) now exceed Qunol’s bioavailability claims with stronger clinical evidence.
Can I take Qunol Turmeric every day?
Do not take recalled products. If you have non-recalled Qunol products (check lot codes), consult the FDA recall notice. For daily anti-inflammatory support, we recommend the alternatives below with proven safety records and third-party testing.
Where can I get the best price on Qunol Turmeric?
We currently do not recommend purchasing Qunol products. For alternatives with competitive pricing and verified quality, see our recommendations below.
Current Alternatives to Qunol (August 2026)
Given the ongoing recall, here are our current recommendations based on the same criteria we used to evaluate Qunol: bioavailability, clinical evidence, and transparency.
For General Anti-Inflammatory Support: C3 Complex® + BioPerine®
Nature’s Lab Gold Turmeric — Our top pick for broad inflammation support. C3 Complex® delivers three curcuminoids (curcumin, demethoxycurcumin, bisdemethoxycurcumin) in a clinically studied ratio, with BioPerine® black pepper extract for 20x absorption boost. Third-party tested, heavy metal screened.
Clinical evidence: 8 RCTs for inflammation biomarkers including NF-κB inhibition, CRP reduction, and joint pain improvement.
For Joint Pain & Osteoarthritis: Meriva® Phytosome
Nootropics Depot Meriva® or Doctor’s Best Meriva — The phytosome delivery (curcumin bound to phosphatidylcholine) achieves 29x absorption and has 12 RCTs for joint pain, including head-to-head trials against ibuprofen. Targets joint tissue specifically.
Clinical evidence: 12 RCTs, n=1,247, effect size d=0.62 vs ibuprofen for knee osteoarthritis.
For Brain Health & Cognitive Support: Longvida®
Nootropics Depot Longvida® — The only formulation proven to cross the blood-brain barrier. Solid lipid particle delivery, 65x absorption, free curcumin in plasma. 3 RCTs for depression, emerging cognitive data.
Clinical evidence: 3 RCTs for major depressive disorder (HAM-D ↓ 8.2 points), emerging data for cognitive decline.
For Liquid Formulation Preference: Liposomal Curcumin
SomaLeaf or TurmericBD — These are CBD + turmeric combination products in liposomal liquid form. Best for nerve pain, sleep issues, and stress-related inflammation. They are not pure turmeric supplements — the CBD component adds cost and regulatory complexity. For pure liposomal curcumin without CBD, consider standalone liposomal formulations from brands like Manna or Terra Health (see our Manna review and Terra Health review).
Why we updated this page: We have reviewed Qunol since 2021. Their water-dispersible technology was genuinely interesting. But when a product is recalled for contamination, we believe our readers deserve to know immediately. We will re-evaluate Qunol for future recommendations once the recall is fully resolved and independent testing confirms safety.
Beyond Qunol: The Next Generation of Absorption
While Qunol’s technology was excellent and a massive step up from standard supplements, science is always moving forward. If you’re interested in the absolute cutting edge of bioavailability, there are new compounds that take absorption to an even higher level.

Kudos to the Turmeric website for shedding light on the golden wonders of this remarkable spice.Big thumbs up to Qunol for creating a high-quality turmeric supplement that’s backed by research and delivered through innovative technology. This review is a must-read for anyone seeking to enhance their well-being with the power of turmeric
Hi MDC, thank you for the kind words and for taking the time to comment. I’m glad the review resonated with you.
You’ve hit on the key reason we rate Qunol so highly: the innovative technology. So many brands just sell generic turmeric, but Qunol focused on solving the single biggest problem—getting the curcuminoids absorbed by the body where they can actually work. When you see a company investing in the science of bioavailability, it’s a great sign.

Hi Robert,
Thank you for an in-depth introduction to this product. It is quite new to me and I was not aware there are do many applications to Liquid Tumeric. We have been using Tumeric in our homemade tonics during Corvid and it is refreshing to see your Qunot Turmeric Products.
I will sure be looking at them.
Ntlhane
Good day Nthane.
its great its a pleasure to hear that the review offers more than enough detail to help make a decision.:) I am also plaesed to hear how you are incorperating Turmeric in you daily intake, that will give us all a heads up above those that don’t…
Enjoy”) Rob
If 1000 mg Qunol liquid tumeric contains 1000 mg of tumeric extract with 95% curcuminoids then why is it not called a curcumin supplement instead of tumeric?
Hi David. That is a great question. Basically it does all come down to popularity and marketing. Curcuminoids at the time of quinol turmeric launch and development was not a popular term from the lack of knowledge. As we become interested and develop the understanding behind the power we gain from turmeric we learn that curcumin an curcuminoids are the key ingredients.
At the time everybody was hearing about turmeric and that was and still is where we begin the search to learn about turmeric and curcumin
Hope that helps….
